Several new residents now are calling the Crescent Grove apartment complex home in Castro Valley! It’s a new, 72-unit affordable housing community making a big impact for families and individuals with disabilities in the East Bay.
Ashante, an individual receiving services with the Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB), is one of the Crescent Grove’s first residents. Her mother, Sheila, shared, “We love the place, and Ashante does too. We are very grateful for the opportunity, and the stability it has provided is so greatly appreciated.”
Ten of the apartments in the complex are dedicated for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By December 2024, most of the construction was finished, and officials approved new residents to move in early. An official grand opening celebration event is planned for later this spring.
This is another affordable housing apartment complex now open with the Department’s Community Resource Development Plan (CRDP) funding and RCEB support. Thank you to each of the partner organizations who helped make the homes a reality, including National Equity Fund, Silicon Valley Bank, The County of Alameda, California Department of Housing and Community Development (No place Like Home Program, Federal Housing Trust Fund Program via the Housing for a Healthy California Program), and the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.
The Department’s Office of Community Development works to create affordable housing across the State. It helps regional centers cover part of the cost of building new multifamily housing.
