The Coordinated Family Support (CFS) service can make navigating and coordinating services and supports easier for adults who receive regional center services and live in their family’s home. CFS is personalized and adaptable to the changing needs and preferences of the individual and their family. Services are provided in a manner that respects the individual’s language, culture, and the environment of the family home.
For individuals living with aging caregivers, CFS recognizes those unique challenges, and can assist with planning for the future. CFS aims to create a seamless transition of support when the individual’s primary caregiver no longer can provide for them. This may include developing long-term care plans and identifying potential future caregivers and services to continue meeting the individual’s needs.
Since it began in 2023, more than 2,300 individuals have used this service, which is currently offered by 128 providers. CFS does not replace or duplicate a regional center service coordinator’s support.
How to Access CFS? If you are 18 years or older, live in your family home, and are interested in CFS, contact your regional center service coordinator to begin exploring this service.
In an effort to enhance CFS, the Department will be conducting two community webinars in June to gather feedback on proposed changes to the service.
Updates will be shared in this newsletter and on the Department’s Events page. Visit the Coordinated Family Support page for more information.
